Concussion, Post-Concussion Syndrome, and Neck Injury

Please join Dr. Scott Bender of Connecticut Spine & Health Center in Stamford who will present current research in the diagnosis and the successful treatment of Cranio-Cervical injuries which contribute to Post-concussion Syndrome.

A Concussion, also known as a Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) is a very common incident in the United States accounting for 80% of all traumatic brain injuries per year. Over 3.8 million injuries per year occur from sports injury alone. Other leading causes of TBI include car accidents, falls, and assault. Symptoms include: Headaches, Brain Fog, Sleep Disruption, and Dizziness.

The vast majority of individuals with a single concussion recover within days to weeks, however some individuals develop long term problems collectively known as Post-Concussion Syndrome. Recent evidence shows that recovery is prolonged in the adolescent population.

Strategies to help heal from these symptoms will be presented.
