Joan is an experienced teacher, tutor and department head with 20+ years of experience from elementary to high school with an emphasis on instruction in math. She has provided support and tutored students from ages 6 to 17 in developing study skills and learning methodologies as a life skill. She emphasizes building self-confidence and encourages understanding of material building from the fundamentals of the subject.
Joan earned her BS at New York University and her MA at the University of Bridgeport. Her special certifications came from Sacred Heart University (Technology Instruction) and Quinnipiac University (Math). She spent the past two decades in various roles working for the Stamford school system while providing customized, one-on-one coaching to countless children of all ages.
Her method establishes a positive relationship with each child to make them feel comfortable with the material. Often she finds that the key to having a student understand material may be to present it in an alternate format or to take a different approach. Her positive attitude and smile allow children to feel less anxious and thus obtain a higher level of achievement.
